"Great tools at a great price" 2010-03-01
By C. Olson (Dallas, NC)
Great tools. Much better than my old Dewalt 18V NiCad tools. I like the battery charge indicator. And there is very little drop off in power when the batteries get close needing recharge. The 30 minute charger is great and gives a status of charge. The keyless chuck grips very tightly. This is the first "driver" I have owned. I was not sure if I needed one. I am using the heck out of it everyday. My only surprise was the sudden loss of power, when the battery is spent. At first, I thought I over did it. 30 minutes later, I was back to full strength.

 "Great product" 2010-02-17
By D. Throop (Atlanta, GA USA)
I did a lot of research before deciding on this set. The Makita tested slightly better in a few areas but lower in others. Based on price, I choose to go with Milwaukee. I can tell you I have yet to be disappointed in any area and I'm a pretty tough customer. The Lithium batteries are fantastic. The drills have never had any issues after many hours of use and I've even dropped them a few times from 4+ feet. These are well made and comfortable. This is my second set purchased! One set for the garage and the other for the woodshop. You won't be disappointed!!!

"Best drill I ever owned" 2010-02-17
By Dan Theman (MI)
Very light, very strong. Other manufactures can not compete. Home Depot sells the drill-only version for the same price as the combo on Amazon. I like this waaayy better than the Makita 14.4V I owned before.

Batteries hold a charge no matter how long I keep them in my trunk in the freezing MI weather, and they charge in about 30 min. The battery indicator is SWEET! Be the talk of your buddies! Hit the button on the battery and it tells you how much juice you got left, which is very important when using LithIon batteries.

Oh and the case is nice too, fits everything perfectly- nothing slides around.

I only wish the drill came with a tool belt loop like the impact does, and that the impact came with a bit holder like the drill does.

Buy it! You will not be dissapointed!

Bought it for my husband and he really loves it. He says it is comfortable to hold and is impressed with the power. But he has bought Milwaukee before and was expecting a great product so was happy to see things had not changed.

 "Great Drill! Minor Annoyances" 2008-09-12
By The Reader (Pittsburgh, PA)
I'm only a do-it-yourself-er but I don't shy away from bigger projects that test the mettle of a drill. I just don't do them often. So, I went in search of a decent drill that had the support of professionals who use their drills all the time but not a drill so great that it hurt my wallet.

I researched Lithium-Ion drills pretty extensively on-line. At the end, it was between this drill and the Makita BDF452HW. On paper (on-line tests), the Makita looks slightly better but it has a few issues: no bit holder, no belt clip and known battery problems. I could have bought the clip and holder on-line but the battery issues were a concern for me and I was irritated that I'd have to buy those parts separately.

Reconditioned was perfect for me. I could get a great drill for a seriously discounted price. I don't have any fear of reconditioned tools. After all, they've been inspected and tested by a real human being before they go out. Plus, CPO has a decent reputation.

So far, I think this is a great drill. Plenty of power, good balance and feel and it comes with a belt clip and bit holder. The "fuel gauge" type charge indicators on the batteries is really cool too. I think I picked a winner. Sure the Makita charges in 15 minutes and this one takes 30 minutes but who cares? I've got two batteries and one can always be on the charger. Plus, if it ever becomes an issue, I can dig out the dirt under my fingernails while I wait the extra 15.

Little annoyance: The drill has clearly been used. It's not "like new". There's actually sawdust in the crevices and it's scuffed up (not bad though). Further, for some reason CPO insists on carving numbers into the drill and the battery. Why??

One other little annoyance: The bit holder can hold two bits. However, they only gave me one bit and it's only a Phillips head. What??

Overall, I am very pleased and I'll get over my little annoyances. I think this is a great drill and it would, no doubt, get 5 stars if the drill were new.

"The good the bad and the cordless" 2008-09-01
By Christopher M. Harper (Tonawanda, New York)
CPO is a very solid company to buy from. I have purchased several things from them and have had good luck. That luck has recently takena beating with the purchase of this drill. The drill itself while being reconditioned is excellent. The lithium ion batteries included with the drill; not so much. The first battery lost it's charge quicker than a jack rabbit on a date. The second dead like dillinger right out of the box. The only thing that kept me from becoming cpo anti-matter was their uber-great customer service. I recieved a brand new set-up asap and it has been a great drill. Saw if at sears for two hundred bones. Great deal for a top notch drill.

"good sound, not a long battery life" 2010-02-15
By C. Travaille
I bought this radio for use in my postal vehicle. The size is perfect and I can get a lot of stations with quality sound. The "mute" button is a great feature, rather than turning sound down, the presets are handy also. I use it approximately 3.5 hrs a day and have to recharge the battery after every use to make it through 2 days (7hrs). After trying a regular boom box, this radio has better sound and is built to last.

"Fits in tool bag!! lightweight!" 2010-02-12
By Matthew G. Miller (PA)
I'm a residential handyman, and although I rarely take a radio on the job, when your alone its nice. I've owned the big dewalt, the makita 18v bmr100, and now this. What enticed me was the small size. carries ok into next room but not floor to floor. If you like loud this is not the radio for you. the sound is great for such a small size. won't disturb neighbors. I'll likely use this radio more than the others because of its ease in portability, dang its small! The others are just to big/heavy. If you own other m12 tools this is a steal on ebay for 40-50 bucks

 "Over Hyped" 2009-12-23
By John Safranek (Charlotte, NC)
After reading all the good reviews I felt a little let down. I was primarily disappointed with the sound. Even though it has an "equalizer" it's just a bass and treble setting.

On the plus side, the MP3 compartment is great and the side handles are a nice touch.

Not the greatest radio but it's better than silence.

 "rocks and rolls" 2009-12-16
By The Accretion Desk (Under the Big Sky, Montana)
I just received mine, and have yet to put it through the paces (gave it 4 stars so as not to upset the current stats).

But if it is even half as durable as this youtube video shows, the a five star might not be out of the question. copy/paste this

[...]

Used it a bunch now.

Yup, 5 stars. I love this little thing. It has great sound, is simple to use (I keep forgetting how to set the time on my big Milwaukee radio) and is fast to operate.

This radio is an excellent work area radio and mp3 player but I hesitate to say it is a jobsite radio unless the job is not too loud.

My only complaints are 1) there is no weather band, 2) oddly several places rise above the rubberized edges namely the button set on the top and the battery, 3) there is no handle or even grip place on the radio's top which for me has been the most logical place to grab it, and lastly 4) the standard complaint against Milwaukee radios, the battery does not recharge when the radio is plugged in. I never really cared much for that complaint early on with my bigger radio, but it did become a bothersome issue as time wore on.

Would I get one again? Absolutely.

 "Solid little beast" 2009-12-16
By Daniel D. Ayd (Minneapolis, MN)
This thing is built like a brick! I suspect one could pound nails with it or chizzle ice off a windshield if you were so inclined. I should have read the dimensions better because the pictures are deceptive in that this radio is much smaller than it looks online. Sound exceedes my expectations for such a tiny package. Bass response is solid and the built in bass/treble adjustment is helpful. Keep in mind it only connects to MP3 players/iPods via the 3.5 mm jack so it neither charges nor controls your player so skipping songs requires you to open the compartment and touch its buttons. The radio's heavy-duty buttons are a bit touchy requiring a full press-n-release before they'll acknowledge subsequent presses--this results in sluggish scrolling through the presets. Which are by the way limited to 10 and cannot be directly accessed. The external power cord can limit which outlets it'll work with because the transformer is at the plug rather than in the radio's chassis, though the cord is of a pleasingly thick gauge. The radio reception is fantastic. In our lab it grabs just about any Twin Cities' (St. Paul/Mpls) station we want, including small-wattage, non-NPR public stations without as much as any static. In the pilot plant however only the major commercial stations come in...this room is about 20 feet under ground under a multi-story R&D facility constructed of reinforced concrete, so I'm not sure what electronic signals can get through down there. For reference, no cell phone carrier that we've used has a phone that gets reception down there. Because of this type of jobsite, our mighty red radio will not be in a dirty, dusty environment but a steamy, sloppy one so time will tell how well it endures emulsifier, shortening, steam, and sanitation checmical exposure...I'll try report back with an update. For a work radio it's nearly perfect aside from the quibble on iPod control, but security comes at a price so put it on shuffle and forget it...and that's what playlists are for, right? A simple, heavy-duty, two-button RF remote with iPod control in the radio for skipping songs would have been the clincher for a 5-star rating but certainly pushed the price way up...I'm just sayin'. At it's current price though, move the transformer inside the radio and add another 5 presets or so and this is a 5-star item.
